What is the ruling regarding putting flowers on graves?
Some scholars say it is forbidden because it is a “waste of money” and because it is adopting a non-Muslim practice. Personally I see nothing in Islam to forbid it. Adopting practices to honor the dead can encourage us to pray more for them. Also a fatwa from Al-Azhar University’s fatwa council permits planting things on the grave because this is something the Prophet did.
