Abdul Razzaq (Name)

Abdul Razzaq (transliteration: ʿAbdul Razzāq, Arabic: عبد الرزّاق) is an Arabic name for boys that means “servant of the Giver of Sustenance”, “servant of the Provider”, meaning “servant of “God” since al-Razzāq is one of the names of God in Islam.1 The name is made up of the words ʿabd (“servant”, “slave”)2 and the name of God al-Razzāq. Due to the way the Arabic language works, when pronouncing the name ʿabd al-Razzāq becomes ʿabdul Razzāq.

Abdul Razzaq is also spelled as Abd al-Razzaq, Abdul Razaaq, Abdol Razzak, Abd el-Razak and Abdurrazaq, among others.

There is one Companion of the Prophet Muhammad named Abdul Razzaq:

  • Abdul Razzaq bin Hammam عبد الرزاق بن همّام
