Abdu Rab (Name)

Abdu Rab (transliteration: ʿAbdu Rabb) is an Arabic name for boys that means “servant of the Lord”. It is made up of the words ʿabd (“slave, servant”)1 and rab (“lord”, “mentor”).23 The literal meaning of the phrase is “servant of a lord”, but the meaning of “servant of the Lord” can be assumed due to the associating of the word rabb with God.

Abdu Rab may also be spelled Abdurab and Abdu Rabb.

There is one Companion of the Prophet Muhammad with this name:

  • Abdu Rab bin Haq عبد رب بن حقّ
