IslamQA: Islam and telepathy

Assalamualaikum brother, What does Islam have to say about mental telepathy? Is it true? Can you tell me more about it?

Alaikumassalam wa rahmatullah,

There is nothing on telepathy on the Quran. I have also not seen any hadiths that mention it. I have, however, heard stories of Sufi sheikhs who were sometimes able to communicate telepathically with people close to them. It is said that it was a miracle granted to them for their extreme piety.

And God knows best.

O you who have believed, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 57:28.

There are several more in Quran, especially to light related to mankind.
Telepathy meaning : the supposed communication of thoughts or ideas by means other than the known senses. Telepathy process won’t work if without those lights/lataif (sufism word for light). Depending how stronger the lights and how long the lights light is on beneath the mankind heart realm to receive words from others and to transfer words to another persons who got light on. These receive and transfer communication is part of the inspiration.

And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, you guide to a straight path – 42:52

Two different meanings that these lights appearance of man’s feel is cooler & depending on stages (cooling water flow within the heart realm), that the Good ones.

And the other one is without the light on & indeed, opposite feel, it hot, or normal warm – confirmed from mostly jinns and very rare from Evil/witchcraft Man (Satan). Obviously, when man got anger, man often forget and never realised who the one gave him the thought or influenced of being anger at first and continue to influence until he murder or hurt someone. By observing these, that the breathing goes faster than normal mode.

“And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.” 15:27

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind. The God of mankind, From the evil of the retreating whisperer -Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -From among the jinn and mankind.” An Nas

Actually is not a gift as what as some sufism claim, a gift is mean you got it without making a single effort and it free, but the truth is an effort and sincerity with righteousness on how man devoted to the One God. So it return rewards to the person deeds.

Assalamu Alaykum. A general principle: all those meanings that are ascribed to the ayaats of the Qur’an that are not allowed by the way sentences are constructed, the context, the idom of the Quraysh are to be left alone.
